Small Animal Food Bank

We maintain a Small Animal Food Bank for individuals that may require temporary assistance in providing the necessities for their small animal (food, bedding, hay, etc).  This food bank is designed for individuals who may have recently lost their job or are otherwise financially struggling to provide their pet's basic needs.  While we will never judge an individual's personal situation, we respectfully ask that you only ask for/take what you need.  This is not designed as a "free shop" for those that are able to provide for their animals.  
 

RULES:

  • Be kind, patient and understanding.  Remember that we are all volunteers, and are doing our best to help the small animal community in Winnipeg.  It may take a few days (or more) before we can deliver.  We will not tolerate rude, aggressive or nasty behavior towards our volunteers.  Doing so will result in IMMEDIATE ineligibility for future assistance.

  • You may request help once every 6 weeks.  If you are requesting assistance, it is expected that you are not adding pets to your household.  Adding additional pets while still requesting assistance will disqualify you from being eligible for this service.  The amount of assistance we can provide will depend on what we have on hand at the time of your request.

  • We use the honor system, and we assume that the information you provide to us is true and correct.  False information being provided will results in ineligibility for assistance.

  • We do not offer "recurring" assistance.  You must submit a new request if additional help is needed.

​

  • Requests are limited to ONE per household, per 6-week period.  Submitting multiple requests from different members in the home will result in disqualification.

  • We will provide you with notice of IF we are able to deliver.  We do not always have a volunteer available for delivery, so you may be required to pick up.  If we are able to deliver:  If you are not home (and do not want your delivery left on the steps) or are a no-show for a pick up, you will be ineligible for future assistance.  Please be respectful of everyone's time.

  • We reserve the right to decline assistance.
